Value added tax changes in July in Finland

Value added tax (VAT) for all goods and services will increase from 22% to 23% in Finland in July 2010. For take-away food stuff VAT% will be increase from 12 to 13%. Tickets to amusement parks, ski lifts (in ski resorts) and other cultural events will increase from 8 % to 9 %. Also VAT for accommodation increases from 8 to 9 %. However, VAT % on food and non-alcoholic beverages served in restaurant will decrease from 22% to 13%.

 

How does this affect Best Western hotels in Finland? Finnish hotels’ prices in generally include bed & breakfast. In the receipt, the customer receives at the hotel, they will see the VAT% for bed and breakfast. For bed it is now 9% and for breakfast 13%.
